A new-build, two-storey state of the art construction faculty for Derby College, situated on Pride Park in Derby, near to the Roundhouse Campus. The building features joinery, painting and decorating, plastering and brickwork workshops, along with self-contained “pod” classrooms and capacity for future gas, plumbing and environmental technologies workshops.
Key features, include:
- Predominately naturally ventilated building with “on-demand” mechanical ventilation with highly efficient heat recovery to the classroom pods
- Air tightness and insulation better than Building Regulations
- High efficiency gas fired condensing boilers and variable flow control heating system
- Demand driven space heating systems to minimise energy use, coupled with thermal zoning of key areas for out-of-hours, multifunctional use
- 125m2 solar photovoltaic array to offset use of grid displaced electricity
- High efficiency lighting systems with daylight linking controls and occupancy absence detection
- Building management system for efficient control of heating and hot water systems
- Dedicated mechanical and electrical services for specialist equipment, including specialist power supplies and water services
